As a small, dynamic company our success is based on our team of software, electronics, and firmware engineers, which together with our detector scientists are constantly pushing the limits of what is technologically feasible with our LAMBDA and SPARTA cameras as well as developing the next generation of detectors. A highly performant control software plays a crucial part in achieving the user experience, quality and high data throughput rates our customers have come to expect. To help us on this development path we are looking for a talented software developer to strengthen our team.
The Company
X-Spectrum is a spin-out of the DESY research institute in Hamburg, Germany. We develop and produce cutting-edge cameras and detector systems for x-ray applications at large-scale scientific research facilities as well as in industry. We collaborate with scientists and industrial customers all around the world. Our offices are in the beautiful new Start-up Labs Bahrenfeld on the Campus of the DESY which fosters close collaboration with the newest scientific developments.
Your tasks
• Develop software solutions for the control of our detectors • Constant optimization both of existing code as well as new developments, with a focus on clean code • Develop methods of efficiently handling the large data produced with our detectors • Detailed software documentation • Testing of the developed software with detectors in real laboratory setting • Assist with technical customer support
Your profile
• Excellent practical programming skills with scientific Python and C++ and Linux expertise • University level degree in physics, computer science, engineering, mathematics or similar • Passion for high software quality with the ambition and pragmatism to implement it in dynamic work environments • Previous experience with experimental controls a plus • You are fluent in English • IT knowhow is a plus – GPU, big data, networking
